Axiomtek has launched its tBOX323-835-FL fanless railway embedded system, for in-train applications. Integrated with onboard quad-core Intel Atom E3845 processor and 4GB low-powered DDR3L memory, the system boosts its computing performance and specialises its I/O design with five isolated COM ports, two M12-type LAN connectors, USB 2.0 ports, and one isolated digital I/O.

The railway PC also provides VGA and HDMI outputs for on-train surveillance. The tBOX323-835-FL is a suitable all-in-one IoT solution for various applications, including railway multi-functions of gateway, controller, digital signage management and surveillance. Certificated with EN50155 and EN50121 for rolling stock and complied with EN45545-2 for fire resistance, the rugged system operates reliably in a -40 to +70ºC operating temperature range (EN50155 Class TX) and in high vibration environments.

The tBOX323-835-FL adopts an onboard processor and onboard DRAM, greatly reducing the impact of vibration and shock. Considering system reliability, M12 LAN connectors and other lockable or screw I/Os also can keep all cables tightly secured.

To prevent ESD and over-voltage, this compact embedded system is equipped with five isolated RS-232/422/485 ports and one isolated digital I/O connector, offering excellent power protection.

For greater expansion capability, there are three internal PCI Express Mini Card slots, including one which supports mSATA storage function. Two SIM sockets are also available for 2G/3G/4G, GPS, WI-FI and Bluetooth applications.

“The Axiomtek tBOX323-835-FL answers operational and environmental concerns for use on rolling stocks, including temperature requirements to resist elements, global railway fire protection standards, anti-shock and anti-vibration features, mount requirements for the equipment, and power supply requirements. The outstanding embedded PC also features great expansion and storage capability, including three PCI Express Mini Card slots, two SIM card slots, one 2.5” SATA HDD/SSD with suspension mounting and one front -accessible CFast socket. The low-power consumption railway system provides a reliable yet economical and practical option for user finding a high integration and value computing IPC,” commented Jerry Huang, Product Manager, Product Marketing Division, Axiomtek.

Axiomtek’s Intel Atom-based railway embedded platform, tBOX323-835-FL, is scheduled for availability in late January 2015.
