ProTek Devices has introduced a new circuit protection diode to shield CAN Bus and other automotive subsystem designs from electrostatic discharge and other electrical fast transient damage. The ESD protection level is rated at greater than 25 kilovolts.

The PESD2402 is designed to protect two signal data lines from impairment arising from ESD and other applied transients.

The diode operates at 24V with a low capacitance rating per line. It meets or exceeds IEC standards 61000-4-2 (ESD): air ±15kV, contact ±8kV and 61000-4-4 (EFT). It also features 100W peak pulse power per line, per IEC 61000-4-5, giving a low clamping voltage and low leakage current. In addition, the new diode is RoHS and REACH compliant.

Mechanical, packaging and availability information
ProTek Devices PESD2402 circuit protection diode is now available in a molded JEDEC SOT-23 package with an approximate weight of just 8 milligrams.

Other key mechanical characteristics include lead-free pure-tin plating (annealed) and a solder reflow temperature (pure-tin - Sn, 100) of 260-270°C. The new steering diode / TVS array series also have a flammability rating of UL 94V-0. This new device comes packaged on 8mm tape and reel per EIA standard 481 in quantities starting at 3,000.
