Automotive camera solution that uses AI for depth-aware in-cabin sensing data
Eyeris Technologies, Inc., OMNIVISION, and Leopard Imaging, Inc. have collaborated to create a reference design aimed at enhancing safety and comfort in automotive interiors.
This new reference design merges Eyeris' monocular 3D sensing AI software with Leopard Imaging's 5-megapixel camera, equipped with OMNIVISION's OX05B image sensor and OAX4600 image signal processor. The production reference design, featuring depth-aware driver and occupant monitoring systems, will be on display at CES 2024 at Leopard Imaging’s booth in the Las Vegas Convention Centre. Eyeris will also offer demonstrations by appointment during CES in its demo vehicle and at various automotive tier-one partner locations.
This reference design serves as the automotive industry’s first solution for in-cabin depth-aware sensing needs. Eyeris’ monocular 3D sensing AI technology empowers standard 2D image sensors to provide comprehensive cabin sensing, including data for driver and occupant monitoring systems. Utilising OMNIVISION's OX05B 5MP RGB-IR image sensor and its OAX4600 ISP, this advanced design also benefits from Leopard Imaging’s expertise in camera design, providing automotive manufacturers and suppliers with a streamlined path to market, cost-efficiency, and minimal integration risk.
Modar Alaoui, Founder, and CEO of Eyeris, said: “Our partnership with OMNIVISION and Leopard Imaging offers automotive customers the industry’s most advanced 3D software along with a hardware production reference design kit for in-cabin sensing. It is a true turn-key solution that’s readily available, with a unique combination of AI-based depth-aware DMS and OMS data, processed on OMNIVISION’s RGB-IR image sensor and ISP platform.”
OMNIVISION’s involvement ensures that the in-cabin monitoring systems operate with efficiency and responsiveness. Paul Wu, Staff Marketing Manager at OMNIVISION, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, saying: “We are excited to partner with Eyeris and Leopard Imaging on this combined solution, which integrates a unique set of capabilities developed specifically for monocular 3D in-cabin monitoring systems. OMNIVISION’s ISP processing technology and dedicated neural processing unit ensure robust, latency-free image processing, and our OX05B sensor offers the best performance in extremely low light conditions.”
Leopard Imaging’s Cliff Cheng, Senior Vice President of Marketing, also commented on the collaboration: "We’re delighted to work with Eyeris and OMNIVISION on this advanced production reference design for in-cabin monocular 3D sensing AI. Our camera design and manufacturing experience combined with our advanced imaging solutions are a testament to our commitment for pushing innovation boundaries for the future of automotive in-cabin sensing.”
