Integrated Graphene has strengthened its board with the appointment of Helen Adams as Non-Executive Director.

Stirling-based Integrated Graphene has produced a three-dimensional carbon-based material patented as Gii which boasts all the intrinsic properties of graphene but suffers none of the scale-up challenges.

Previously vice president of semi-conductor and software design company Arm in Cambridge, microelectronics specialist Ms Adams has been recruited by recently appointed CEO Jean-Christophe Granier to help drive the business’s commercialisation.

Ms Adams has more than 30 years’ experience in commercial management across the microelectronics and advanced materials sectors and has acted both as a consultant and mentor for several technology start-ups, helping them to develop their commercial strategies and product roadmaps.

Jean-Christophe Granier, said: “Helen’s impressive track record working in the advanced materials sector and her long-term relationships in Europe and Asia, will help drive adoption of Gii as a must-have material to be integrated into products developed for the health, energy, electronics industries, and many more.

“The potential advantages of graphene were always held back by its Achilles heel, being able to produce the material at scale, but Integrated Graphene scientists have established a proven method for producing Gii in sustainable and commercial quantities, delivering all the beneficial properties of graphene with none of the downsides.”

Helen Adams added: “I am excited to be joining Integrated Graphene as the company reaches a pivotal point in its evolution and is now ready to roll-out its Gii nanotechnology, which has the potential to totally transform the way many sectors operate.

“One of the most common difficulties faced with generic graphene is the use of toxic chemicals in the manufacturing process, but conversely, there are zero chemicals used in the production of Gii and I am keen to get this message out to potential customers that our product is as clean and pure as it gets.

“Gii is produced using our novel, patented manufacture method that is scalable and designed for the large scale manufacture of commercial quantities, with an extremely small environmental footprint and none of the supply chain limitations associated with graphene.”

Jean-Christophe Granier was appointed CEO of Integrated Graphene in October 2023 with a mandate to transform the business’s commercial activities and to facilitate entry to global markets.

The former CEO of global textile technology company J&D Wilkie, he has a proven track record in advance material manufacturing and is highly experienced in scaling businesses to reach their full growth potential. He is a former recipient of the UK and Scottish EY Entrepreneur of the Year ‘Transformative Leader’ awards.
