The annual IEC DesignVision Awards program recognizes new technologies, applications, products and services that are judged to be the most unique and beneficial to the industry and was selected by a panel of judges comprised from members of the DesignCon 2010 Technical Program Committee. The committee consists of industry experts in the semiconductor and electronic design engineering community. The domain-specific approach of the ISE Design Suite 11 has established a new interoperability benchmark for FPGA design tools.
This year's winners exemplify the highest level of innovation in today's industry, commented IEC Executive Vice President Roger Plummer. We are pleased to congratulate Xilinx for its ISE Design Suite 11, which received the 2010 DesignVision Award this week at DesignCon 2010.

ISE Design Suite 11 pioneers new ground for delivering sophisticated FPGA design technologies to a user community that is extraordinarily diverse with four domain-specific design configurations: the Logic Edition, DSP Edition, Embedded Edition, and System Edition. Each Edition incorporates comprehensive domain-specific methodology in a powerful, yet easy to use, tool flow that combines intellectual property (IP) to enable designers to focus their efforts on creating value-added, competitively differentiated product applications.

ISE Design Suite 11 is a key element of Xilinx Targeted Design Platforms. Introduced by Xilinx with its new Virtex(R)-6 and Spartan(R)-6 FPGA families, Targeted Design Platforms provide well-integrated, tested and targeted elements that provide embedded, DSP, and hardware designers alike access to the domain specific ISE Design Suite edition, functional domain specific IP cores, Targeted Reference Designs, and complete documentation and cables for starting development right out of the box. Customers are also provided source code and simulation files that can be used within a design environment for building their end application.

It is no longer feasible to expect that one design flow or environment fits every designer's unique needs in today's FPGA landscape, said Tom Feist, senior marketing director for ISE Design Suite at Xilinx. We're proud of the engineering team who developed ISE Design Suite and that it has been recognized for its domain-specific approach that provides complete methodologies so designers can go from concept to production in the fastest possible time.

This is the seventh consecutive year Xilinx innovation has been honored as a winner or finalist in this prestigious, annual awards program. The Virtex(R)-5 TXT FPGA Platform, the world's first single-chip FPGA solution optimized for 40-Gigabit Ethernet, 100-Gigabit Ethernet, and other ultra high-bandwidth communication protocol bridging, switching and aggregation applications, won the 2009 DesignVision Award in the Semiconductor and ICs category, while the PlanAhead(TM) 8.2 design planning and analysis software received the 2007 DesignVision award in the category of Structured/Platform ASIC, FPGA, and PLD Design Tools, and the pioneering Xilinx Platform Studio (XPS) embedded tool suite won top honors in 2006. Finalists have included the Virtex-5 FPGA family, as well as previous versions of the PlanAhead software.
