Ammonit Measurements has successfully delivered a batch of ZephIR 300 wind lidars to clients across Central Europe for wind measurements in a range of onshore wind energy applications. The clients represent some of the leading development and consulting parties in the region, including AL-PRO, ENOVA Energiesysteme, GEO-NET Umweltconsulting and Nadeva Wind.

The ZephIR 300, a Continuous Wave (CW) wind lidar, provides high resolution measurements at an unmatched data rate of 50Hz. Every second, 50 points are measured in the free space targeted by the sensor and chosen by the user, which can range from anywhere between 10 metres to 200 metres. This type of CW wind lidar gives very accurate measurements of the wind speed, direction and other characteristics including Turbulence Intensity. ZephIR 300 is also the single most validated wind lidar at a consistent IEC compliant met mast site.

All systems are now deployed and operating at the high levels of performance as expected from ZephIR 300, delivering remote wind profiling across a range of environmental conditions and terrains. Measurements include both standalone use of the lidar along with correlations to short masts with a minimum of 12 months on each campaign.

Henner Schienitzki, Product Manager for Remote Sensing, Ammonit, commented on the growing wind lidar market: “Ammonit offers high quality measurement equipment for the wind industry and, as that market matures more advanced meteorological sensors such as sodar and lidar devices, become the standard. We are very pleased to deliver a large batch of ZephIR 300 wind lidars to our clients here in Germany, Switzerland and beyond who can take advantage of the single most validated remote sensor available in the market.”

Alex Woodward, Ammonit Account Manager, ZephIR Lidar, welcomed the news: “Working with Ammonit to deliver ZephIR Lidars in to the growing European wind energy market is a very positive teaming relationship for our clients. Ammonit’s product suite really helps to deliver a full wind data package for clients: online data access to your lidar and all associated sensors with AmmonitOR, data logger compatibility, and even a short mast reference onsite. All with power and mobile trailer options too. Combined with ZephIR’s three year warranty, DNV GL Stage 3 finance-grade wind data, and 3 year IEC compliant met mast performance validation, Ammonit and ZephIR Lidar believe this to be the most compelling lidar package available.”
