As the Amazon Go launches in the US this week, there is another retail app that has been presented, the Ubamarket – a trialled and tested white-label solution that has sped into the light on the inside lane over the last year. Directly taking on the likes of Amazon Go by way of an end to end solution that supersedes the American retail giant’s offer, Ubamarket will launch across the UK's Warner's Budgens' portfolio next week, with a NO queue, NO bag, NO loyalty card solution.

With a combined solution of tracking your goods for you, live automated offers and real-time loyalty tracking, the IOS and Android solution eradicates the need for queues, plastic bags and the dreaded loyalty card, serving as the first solution of its kind to offer in-app payment to the UK supermarket arena.

Ubamarket transforms all components of a UK food shop into one app-based IOS and Android solution – a yet unrivalled proposition from the current supermarket offering. The industry first is launched amidst data unveiling national consumer dissatisfaction with both the online and in-store grocery shopping experience.

Ubamarket's 2018 Retail Trends Report reveals:

  • 71% of online shoppers said they are frustrated with their online supermarket experience
  • 43% of the UK does not buy food online
  • 7.6 million consumers struggle to find items in-store
  • 17.8 million people said that waiting times could deter them from in-store grocery shopping
  • 28% of UK shoppers, or 13 million people said grocery shopping is their least favourite shopping experience
  • 73% of UK consumers – 37.5 million people – have changed their mind and decided not to buy something having seen the size of a queue in a shop.
