Arrow Electronics has strengthened its ability to provide embedded and subsystem solutions to UK customers by extending a distribution agreement with Microsoft. Under the terms of the new agreement, Arrow will offer customers in the UK and Ireland the full range of Windows Embedded software including Windows Embedded CE 6.0 and Windows XP Embedded, along with the Toolkits that accelerate product development; Platform Builder for Windows CE, and Target Designer for Windows XP Embedded. The agreement also covers the embedded restricted versions of Windows XP Pro and Windows Vista.
The UK agreement with Microsoft follows the success of existing relationships between the two companies in southern Europe, the Nordic countries and the United States. In addition to offering the full range of embedded software products and tools, Arrow will also be providing technical sales and FAE support across the Windows Embedded line.

Chris McAneny, the European Embedded Solutions Group Leader for Arrow Northern Europe, states: “Arrow’s portfolio ranges from silicon to products such as displays, power supplies, wireless modules and single board computers. By also offering and supporting Windows Embedded products and tools, we can support customers with true embedded solutions that encompass semiconductors, hardware platforms and other on-board and off-board technologies.”

Microsoft’s Doug Follett, the EMEA Channel Manager for OEM Embedded Sales, adds: “We've already had great success with Arrow across Europe, and I'm excited by the opportunity we now have in the UK, especially for customers moving from other Real-Time Operating Systems to the Microsoft-embedded family. Windows-embedded platforms will significantly strengthen Arrow’s subsystems portfolio, while the company’s regional business centres and support capabilities ensure high levels of support at a local level.”
