L2Tek has signed a UK-wide deal to represent Kontron, a provider of data centre and telecom infrastructure platforms for the telco, video/broadcast, and cloud provider markets. L2Tek will sell Kontron small form-factor computer modules and boards plus the SYMKLOUD converged infrastructure platforms. The solutions will be sold to OEMs, systems integrators and also direct to telecom, digital broadcasters and service operators.

Kontron has recently launched its high performance, feature-rich COM Express modules using processors from the Intel Xeon E3-v5 family.

Compared to previous offerings, these new modules offer an increased CPU and graphics performance (allowing 128M of on-package cache memory and supporting three independent displays with up to 4K resolution) to enable developers to create applications with excellent user experiences.

The Kontron SYMKLOUD MS2910 converged infrastructure platform can deliver up to 200 HD (1080p, 30 fps) simultaneous live streams from a single compact 2U unit, and up to 4,000 HD video streams when combining just 20 SYMKLOUD platforms together in one rack.

The devices offer video channel density and the ability to reliably transcode more live video channels per watt than any other platform on the market.

Besides integrated dual 1GbE or 10GbE modular switches in the SYMKLOUD MS29xx platforms, the SYMKLOUD series of products also includes spine and leaf 25-100Gbps TOR Ethernet Switches and modular network attached storage (NAS) units.

These are for deployments by service operators that need high capacity storage and low-cost, high-density switching featuring open software support.

“We are pleased to solidify our channel partnership with L2Tek,” said Daniel Belisle, Head of Sales, Kontron communications business unit.” “The video delivery and overall broadcast market in the UK represents tremendous growth potential and working with L2Tek will be pivotal to helping broadcasters, digital Pay-TV and cable operators solve their IP network video delivery challenges.”

L2Tek director, Mark Scott-South, said, “By partnering with Kontron, we can offer equipment manufacturers and system integrators the market’s leading range of computer modules, switches and servers for HD video streaming. Our customers will benefit from computer modules which already excel in computing and graphic performance, and platforms with exceptionally high video channel density.”

The SYMKLOUD media platform is ideal for video optimisation, video transcoding, unified communications, Video Surveillance-as-a-Service (VSaaS) and cloud-based TV-everywhere video consumption.
