At Embedded World 2013 Toshiba Electronics Europe will launch new devices and development tools designed to simplify and speed embedded motor control implementations in industrial control and home appliance applications. Visitors will also be able to see microcontrollers dedicated to reducing the component count of domestic, commercial and industrial smart metering applications.
Among the devices on show will be the latest family of ultra-miniature ARM Cortex-M3 microcontrollers that combine on-board FOC (Field Oriented Control) capabilities with dedicated peripherals and functions that reduce system development time. Smart meter microcontrollers will include devices built around the ARM Cortex-M0 32-bit core that replace traditional two-chip analogue front end and processor implementation with a single chip.

The company will also showcase the latest version of its free MotorMind PC software that allows designers to quickly and easily set up, modify and manage key motor control parameters via a graphical user interface. A new Starter Kit for Toshiba’s TMPM370 ARM Cortex-M3 microcontroller - a high-performance, low-power 32-bit device that offers accurate, hardware-based vector control of high-end, three-phase motor applications - will also be unveiled.

Alongside the latest developments for embedded motor control and smart metering Toshiba will also be showing reference boards and integrated devices to support embedded applications ranging from automotive systems to surveillance and lighting designs.
