The 3rd NXP Innovators’ Challenge Presents Six Awards for Green and Energy Savings Innovations

NXP Semiconductors today announced six major award winners including the Best Innovations Award of the 3rd NXP Innovators’ Challenge at an award ceremony held in Shanghai. Students and teachers from the 12 finalist teams gathered at the event to witness and celebrate the success of NXP’s long term strategy in local talent cultivation and development through the competition.
As a long-term strategy to support local young talent development in Greater China, NXP has organized the NXP Innovators’ Challenge for the 3rd consecutive year since 2007. Besides continuing to build on the spirit of “Innovation and Green for Embedded Design”, this year NXP has introduced its green design concept, that is Health, Environment, Mobility into this year’s competition, thus to encourage participants to get actively involved in the industry’s green innovation. For the first time, NXP offers the full MCU family to contestants for their applications development. Aimed at encouraging Electronics Engineering students to not only excel in the design of microcontrollers but also learn to fully express themselves with respect to their innovative and green design ideas, NXP also adopted new judging criteria that request the use of video and forum presentation in the competition.

Since it kicked off in September till November this year, the 3rd NXP Innovators’ Challenge has attracted 217 student design teams from over 100 colleges and universities in the Greater China region. Among the 140 microcontroller design entries, there are a lot of outstanding innovative green applications. Teachers and student representatives of the 12 finalist teams NXP selected were invited to present at the final competition event in Shanghai. At the award presentation ceremony on December 16, six design teams won the NXP Innovation Award, Best Green Application Award, Best Presentation Award, Most Popular Award and two Most Potential Design Awards respectively, with the single prize up to RMB 20,000.

This award is of great significance to every member of our team., It will be a great motivation for us to keep exploring the world of MCU development for green designs,” said Lu Hao, the student representative of the Best Innovation Award winner – the design team of “ARM7-based Intelligent Operations Support Specialist” from Huazhong University of Science and Technology.
