Switchtec is celebrating its 30th anniversary and fittingly, this important milestone coincides with a record-trading year for the company. 2011 was its best on record, and further, the first quarter results for 2012 are also its best ever for the period.
Says CEO Jeremy Lester, “Naturally we are overjoyed at our results for last year, but the aim is to break that record again this year. And I believe we can do so despite the ongoing, somewhat flat state of the marketplace. Without putting all our eggs in one basket, we fight to our strengths, and for Switchtec, that means we will continue to drive relays in a big way, contributing as they do around 50% of our turnover.

“In our eyes, broadly speaking we sell relays into two markets; electronics and industrial. So for example our PCB relays open doors for us to sell other related products such as terminal blocks, and our panel mounted relays open up markets for our vast range of control products. It’s an approach that works well for us. Further, in 2011 we expanded our external regional sales force, and we have witnessed extra sales directly as a result of that action.”

Operating as a UK franchisee for world-wide manufacturers of quality components, Switchtec is a leading specialist in the supply of electromechanical, electrical and electronic components.

Switchtec supplies over 7,000 products from stock – with access to many more – from eight franchises and has an annual turnover in excess of £2M. At its purpose built premises in Stone (Staffs), the company employs fourteen people and represents quality brands such as Hongfa, Euroclamp, Telergon, Sirena, Infra, Anly, TenD, and the company’s own brand SCL
