STMicroelectronics announced it has received the “2010 Industry Award” from the Geneva Office for the Promotion of Industries and Technologies (OPI). The award was presented by Mr. Jesús Martin-Garcia, President of the Jury, to STMicroelectronics’ President and Chief Executive Officer Carlo Bozotti, during an official ceremony held as part of the 8th annual economic event organized by the Geneva Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services (CCIG).
The Industry Prize rewards ST for its worldwide leadership in the semiconductor market, its contribution to Geneva, via the creation of highly skilled jobs in the area and important links formed with local universities, its dedication to sustainable excellence as well as for enhancing Geneva’s international reputation as a world-class business centre.

“We are especially honored to have received this prestigious recognition from the OPI of Geneva, because it acknowledges our core belief that a commitment to responsible, sustainable development is not a cost burden but a real competitive advantage,” said Mr. Bozotti, President and Chief Executive Officer of STMicroelectronics. “This award is also an acknowledgment to all STMicroelectronics people of ST’s world leadership in all aspects related to sustainable excellence as well as innovation.”

ST established its corporate headquarters in Geneva in 2002, and in 2009 the headquarters of ST-Ericsson, a 50-50 Joint Venture between ST and Ericsson, were also established in Geneva.

“While it is riding the strength of their continued innovations, STMicroelectronics has proven to be an outstanding citizen and example of Corporate Responsibility,” said Jesús Martin- Garcia, President of the Jury. “The company is a pioneer in energy efficiency and sustainable development. It has contributed international influence to the city since its arrival, and has further enriched the local community by bringing ST-Ericsson’s headquarters here. We are proud that they chose Geneva and we look forward to the continued development of this mutually rewarding relationship.”
