Sony adds first High Definition unit to FCB camera block series
The new FCB-H10 colour camera module from Sony Europe’s Image Sensing Solutions Division addresses demanding picture quality requirements in (HD) security, videoconferencing and broadcast applications by combining 10x optical zoom with true high definition at 1080i or 720p. This first HD camera in the Sony FCB Series is an ultra-compact (47.2 x 43.1 x 72.2mm) unit and is expected to open up new areas for HD integration, including those with limited space. The camera will be used by both commercial product manufacturers and VARs looking to implement and retrofit high definition video systems.
The Featuring VISCA (TTL signal level) protocol, the Sony FCB-H10 eases the migration to HD by offering a total of eight different video output formats, with both HD and Standard Definition (SD) formats available. Video ouput choices include 720p (progressive) or 1080i (interlaced), 50Hz PAL or 60Hz NTSC, composite (SD) or component (HD) video. The camera module also features crop and squeeze functionality for compatibility with both 16:9 and 4:3 screen aspect ratios.
The FCB-H10 provides a high-quality image which is further enhanced by the inclusion of 10x optical zoom (up to 120x including digital). The lens provides a wide viewing angle of up to 50 degrees and a high performance ‘minimum object distance’ of 800mm (at maximum optical zoom) and lens distortion of less than 3%.
Weighing around 120g and measuring 47.2 x 43.1 x 72.2mm, the FCB-H10 can be used across the 0 to 45°C temperature range, and requires a single 6-12V power supply. It is available immediately.
