Socionext Embedded Software Austria (SESA), a subsidiary of Socionext, has announced the start of operations. Following the consolidation of the system LSI businesses of Fujitsu and Panasonic, Fujitsu Embedded Solutions Austria was transferred with all its employees and assets, including its software platform CGI Studio, to Socionext.

Effective from 1st March 2015, Shoji Ohashi has been appointed Managing Director of SESA. As a HMI tool provider and development partner for worldwide automotive, industrial and telecomms customers, SESA will build on its longstanding experience and expertise to drive future business with CGI Studio.

CGI Studio is Socionext's software development platform for the creation of hybrid 2D and 3D graphical interfaces in the automotive field. CGI Studio is used for in-vehicle infotainment and cluster-based dashboard systems throughout the automotive industry. In its latest iteration, the CGI Studio tool chain now supports OpenGL ES 3.0, thereby enabling in-vehicle HMI applications. Supplementing the Candera 2D engine and the Candera 3D engine, Socionext provides a continuous tool chain for 2D/3D composition and authoring, performance measurement and improvement, state machine integration/testing and functional safety to ASIL standards, as well as a fully-fledged 2D/3D rendering engine. CGI Studio is designed to boost system performance even when faced with hardware resource and cost constraints, which are a particular feature of embedded systems and more stringent than those applicable to PCs or tablets.
