Single chip scan rate converter supports 1080p high definition applications
Toshiba Electronics Europe (TEE) has launched a single chip solution for television manufacturers looking to improve picture quality through the conversion of conventional 50Hz and 60Hz frame rates to 100Hz and 120Hz respectively. In addition to reducing component count, the new device is the first fully integrated IC to support full high definition video applications.
ToshThe TC90240XBG accepts 8-bit or 10-bit WXGA 768p or full HD 1080p input signals in RGB, YCbCr and YPbPr formats and can provide WXGA 768p or full HD 1080p 8-bit or 10-bit RGB output. As well as colour space conversion, the device offers frame interpolation functions including motion vector measurement and motion judder reduction. Picture management functions include colour management, RGB gamma correction, frame rate control dither and a YCbCr to RGB matrix.
Integrated memory control and interfaces allow the TC90240XBG to address up to 1Gbit of external 533MHz, 16-bit DDR2-SDRAM and 32kbyte of external EEPROM.
Supplied in a 564-pin PBGA package, the TC90240XBG has a board mounting footprint of just 31mm x 31mm. Power supply voltages are 1.2V for the logic and PLL/clock generation and 3.3V for the LVDS interfaces and other I/O.
