Rohde & Schwarz has acquired a majority interest in the Romanian company Topex, a manufacturer of telecommunications equipment for government authorities and companies. The Topex portfolio includes voice communications systems for air traffic control (ATC). These systems ideally complement the Rohde & Schwarz ATC portfolio which mainly comprises radiocommunications solutions. The products of the Munich-based electronics company are already deployed in over 200 airports in more than 80 countries. In the future, Topex will trade under the name Rohde & Schwarz Topex SA.
/> We plan to use this partnership to further expand our ATC system expertise, comments Herbert Rewitzer, Executive Vice President and Head of the Radiocommunications Systems Division at Rohde & Schwarz. Topex stands for cutting-edge technology products in this area, a perfect fit with Rohde & Schwarz. Both companies fully concentrate on voice over IP as the upcoming communications technology in air traffic control.

Dan Adamescu, CEO of Rohde & Schwarz Topex continues: Rohde & Schwarz is an international company with subsidiaries and representatives in over 70 countries. This partnership gives us access to worldwide markets. Moreover, numerous successful projects have made Rohde & Schwarz a renowned name in the ATC market.

Rohde & Schwarz Topex SA will continue to operate independently and will remain fully dedicated to ensuring the continuous success and profitable growth of all its partners. The company location in Bucharest with around 140 employees will remain unchanged.
