Renesas appoints Industrial & Communications General Manager

Michael Hannawald has been appointed to the position of General Manager of the Industrial & Communications Business Group (ICBG) at Renesas. Previously Senior Director of the ICBG, Hannawald moves into the position with immediate effect, taking over from the retiring Holger Zielke.

After raduating in engineering from the Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences, Hannawald started his career as a development engineer at Philips in 1987. He became Product Marketing Engineer for ASICs at NEC Electronics in 1990, progressing through the ranks to hold various project and marketing management positions. Following 10 years in the Automotive Business Group (culminating as Head of the MCU Marketing Unit), Hannawald joined Renesas when the company merged with NEC Electronics in 2010, retaining his previous position. In October 2013, Hannawald moved over to the Industrial & Communications Business Group as Senior Director.
