The electronics industry’s eyes will be on Productronica, the world’s leading electronics production tradeshow, which will take place in Munich, Germany, from November 13th through 16th, 2007. From the key players on the global market to the sector’s innovative start-ups, the international electronics production industry is preparing for its most important event, where they have traditionally come up to speed on the latest developments. Top purchasing and technology executives from all over the globe will use Productronica 2007 to gain a comprehensive overview of electronics manufacturing products and system solutions and the companies that supply them. Following a successful fiscal year, the industry is full of optimism as the Productronica year begins.
Productronica 2007 is the only event in the world to offer a complete and detailed depiction of the entire electronics production value chain. The exhibition focal points range from production technologies for semiconductors, displays and printed circuit boards to materials processing, mounting technology and product finishing all the way to measurement & testing and quality assurance as well as electronic manufacturing services (EMS), productions logistics and material flow technology.

The event organizer, Messe München International, expects over 1,500 exhibitors and 44,000 trade visitors from around the globe.

Focal points of the exhibition area, special shows, forums, live demonstrations and panel discussions includes high-growth and future-oriented topics. One special highlight is “Organic Electronics,” which focuses on production methods for flexible polymer electronic circuits such as those employed in smart tickets, electronic “paper,” and labels for tracking goods.

Another special highlight is “Photovoltaics.” An entire exhibition area is dedicated to manufacturing processes for regular and thin-film solar cells and photovoltaic modules. Products and processes cover the entire production chain from silicon to complete module.

The areas of semiconductor and display production and clean-room technology are closely linked with the topic of photovoltaics. This exhibition area will focus on “Green Electronics,” the processes and equipment that enable low-emission production. Those seeking a way to transition their production processes will find plenty of new ideas for “green” production and environmentally compatible waste management.

Green support is also available from powerful service providers that showcase their services in the “EMS Village.” Contract Electronic Manufacturers (CEM), Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) and Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) will provide outsourcing information for efficient development, production, logistics and services.

Efficiency is also a major theme in “Production Logistics and Material Flow Technology,” another focus area at Productronica 2007. Reliable product tracking (traceability), cost-cutting Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Materials/manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) as well as other types of goods management and logistics will be featured.

“MicroNanoWorld” is future-oriented topic that includes microproduction, which Messe München launched two years ago for its world-leading electronics trade shows. As the trend towards ever-smaller products continues, manufacturers must keep abreast of the latest production technology advances all the way down to the nano range. “MicroNanoWorld” provides first-class expertise and solutions from top suppliers, including details on various materials, production processes for micro systems, micro assembly, and the corresponding test & measurement technology.

Productronica 2007 also features special shows and live demonstrations, a forum for electronics production methods and trends. Selected companies and institutions present successful manufacturing processes for components and assemblies for the international trade public. The special show entitled “System in Package” presents the functional adaptation of electronics to the application environment.

Productronica’s position as the world’s leading event in this industry will be clearly demonstrated right on opening day of the show, when the chief executives from leading global companies take part in the CEO Round Table discussion.

In order to quench the industry’s enormous thirst for knowledge, particularly in the area of production technologies for the high-growth application areas in electronics (industrial, automotive, environmental technologies, medical technologies, entertainment and communication), Productronica 2007 will offer a multifaceted “Educational Program” as a supplement to its broad range of exhibitions. Two “Productronica Forums” offer attendees and exhibitors to learn about the challenges facing the industry and the corresponding solutions, and to discuss the latest technologies with other specialists. To offer special coverage on microsystem technology, the trade show organizers have established the “MicroNanoWorld User Forum” to keep pace with the dynamic developments in this sector and the tremendous need for knowledge that this creates.

Other opportunities for updating skills and sharing knowledge with other specialists from the diverse topical areas within the field of electronics production are offered by the lecture programs for the ZVEI Podium and the VDMA/Semi Forums.

The program for Productronica 2005 included nearly 130 individual events that – with 44,000 electronics production professionals in attendance combined with a significant boost in the international mix – exceeded all expectations. An equally comprehensive program of accompanying events is in planning for 2007 as well.

Constant updates on Productronica 2007 and the events within the trade show framework are available on the event’s official website, www.productronica.com, and at www.global-electronics.net, the networking portal for the electronics industry.
