Prism Sound Announces a Webinar on Digital To Analogue Converter Evaluation
Prism Sound is hosting an educational webinar on March 14th to discuss the theory and practice of evaluating digital-to-analogue-converter (DAC) performance in audio applications.
Ian This knowledge, combined with Prism Sound’s expertise in measurement issues, will provide the backdrop to the webinar, which will be presented by Prism Sound’s Applications Engineer Simon Woollard. Practical illustrations will be made using Prism Sound's dScope Series III audio analysis instrument, and Woollard will be introducing a new test suite for DACs, which has been developed to simplify the measurement process.
Simon Woollard says: “AES17 test recommendations cover a broad and comprehensive range of tests that are recommended for digital audio devices and Prism Sound’s dScope Series III system already incorporates a dedicated AES17 test suite.
“Our new DAC testing application streamlines the measurement process even further, taking a more pragmatic approach to converter testing based on our wealth of experience in designing and measuring converters. An additional ADC testing application and introductory webinar will follow shortly.”
The new DAC testing app features single-click testing and reporting functionality for the most important parameters that affect real-world DAC performance. There is also provision for testing DACs with AES3, AES3id, S/PDIF, TOSLINK, I2S and PC audio inputs.
To accommodate engineers around the world, the webinar will take place at both 14.00 and at 18.00 hours GMT. Alongside DAC design issues, those taking part will also learn about serial digital interfaces, PC audio interfaces and what to test for. They will also receive practical measurement illustrations to highlight the points made.
