PLX Technology Selects Paragon Software for High-Performance Cross-Platform Technology
Paragon Software Group and PLX Technology, Inc announced that Paragon's Universal File System Driver (UFSD) technology has been chosen to provide high-performance, cross-platform read/write access for the latest PLX® network attached storage (NAS) products.
UFSDCompatible with PLX storage controller and system-on-a-chip (SoC) families, Paragon UFSD technology is available today for products such as PLX's NAS 7800 SoC family -- the industry's highest-performing, next generation of consumer-friendly NAS solutions. The PLX NAS 7800 family can centralize storage and manage the high-speed streaming of multiple digital mediums, such as high-definition video, high-resolution photos, audio and other digital content, thus simultaneously connecting multiple users and electronic devices within the home and the cloud.
We were seeking technology that would optimize the high-quality performance of many of our products, such as the NAS 7800 family, said James Tout, vice president of storage engineering at PLX. Paragon NTFS for Linux offers the best read/write performance available -- absolutely critical for products like the NAS 7800 family which enables multiple users to simultaneously download and playback content such as high definition video, while providing compatibility for our consumer storage products. We look forward to continuing to work with a leader such as Paragon.
Paragon's patented UFSD technology was developed to provide full high-performance access (including read/write and formatting) under various platforms (Windows, Mac, Linux, Android and VxWorks) to volumes of the most popular file systems (NTFS, HFS+ and Ext2/3), which otherwise would not be supported. For example, Paragon's UFSD-based NTFS for Linux enables full read/write access to externally attached Windows (NTFS-formatted) hard drives connected to PLX-based embedded Linux network storage devices -- with the highest read/write performance in the market.
PLX is one of the top chip manufacturers in the consumer storage market, said Tom Fedro, president of Paragon Software Group. The combination of our technology with PLX's strong feature-set will benefit a variety of customers, from consumers to SMB and enterprise users.
