Access snap-on data reader adds OCR and swipe card capability to hand-held airport computer
Access IS announces an optical character reader and magnetic stripe reader snap-on module that adds new capabilities to the Intermec CN3 and CN4 hand-held computers. These computers are widely used in airports. The Access OCR310-CN3 is available in three models: combined OCR and MSR, MSR only, or OCR only. Just by attaching it to the base of the CN3, the unit is ready to operate. Green LEDs are used to confirm a good read. The OCR310-CN3 is designed to extend applications of the Intermec CN3 into police identification checking, queue busting at airport check-in, security checks at boarding gates, and provision of advanced passenger information (APIS) gathering. The Intermec devices provide integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and users are connected with voice and high-speed data (GSM/EDGE or CDMA/EV-DO).
InteThe OCR reader captures code lines reliably from machine-readable documents including passports, visas and OCRB encoded cards such as the US Resident Alien card and European national ID cards.
The bi-directional MSR can read two tracks of a magnetic stripe card, with the option to read track 3. This means it can be used for ATB2 travel documents and loyalty and credit cards confirming to ISO7811/2-5.
