NXP Showcases Technology and Lifestyle Innovation at CES 2010
Innovation continues to remain a hot topic and is considered the essence of a prospering economy. NXP Semiconductors will be showcasing a wide range of innovations at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, spanning across the digital home, automotive and industrial spectrum. Through cutting edge semiconductor technology provided by NXP, the company is bringing an affordable and intelligent technology experience to every consumer – from 3D television, cinema like home theatre screens and brilliant automotive sound, to efficient and superior PC sound solutions, LED drivers for gaming applications and energy saving notebook adaptors. For more information, please visit NXP’s CES demonstrations at the Wynn Hotel and Casino from January 7-10, 2010.
3DTVTV viewing habits are evolving with consumers wanting more interactivity, higher quality and access to all kinds of information – social networking, widgets, news feeds, and additional contextual content creating a more personalized TV viewing experience. The introduction of new TV panel dimensions and the direct support for these panels on the TV550 platform from NXP makes all this possible.
For the fast growing pay TV and set-top box (STB) market, NXP will showcase the 45nm STB platform, PNX 847x/8x/9x family, the low power SoC for advanced user interfaces, games and other 3D content.
NXP will also be demonstrating Qualcomm’s N-StreamTM wireless LAN WCN1320 chip on its STB225 IP STB platform. The WCN1320 chip is the industry’s first dual-band 802.11n standards-based wireless LAN solutions with 4x4 multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technology. Offering performances of 600Mbps it opens up new possibilities for distributing multiple simultaneous streams of high-definition (HD) video, voice and data throughout the home, enabling the next generation whole-home wireless entertainment experience. This solution will be demonstrated at CES in the NXP suite and at the Qualcomm “Wireless Mobility” exhibit (booth #30320) located on the upper level, South Hall 3 of the Las Vegas Convention Center.
At CES 2010 NXP will introduce the next generation multimedia processors for car entertainment, the PNX953x family. The PNX953x family is a complete platform that provides superior media playback quality for digital TV decoding, DVD and rear seat entertainment. The platform also enables innovative multi camera processing applications like bird-view parking assistance which will be demonstrated at CES. From images collected from four cameras placed at each side of the vehicle Birdview creates an image of the car from an elevated angle (the view a bird would have from the sky). The system captures the wide angle images, performs distortion correction and compiles a top view of the entire car’s surroundings, allowing the driver to safely park and avoid all obstacles that could damage the car.
NXP Semiconductors provides solutions in the areas of RF, Analog, Power and Digital Processing technologies known as High Performance Mixed Signal. These innovations are used in a wide range of automotive, industrial, consumer, lighting, computing and identification applications which will be on show in the NXP suite at CES 2010.
The recently announced GreenChip TEA1733 IC will be demonstrated at the show. The TEA1733 is a low-cost IC that increases energy efficiency and standby performance of power supplies under 75W. Designed specifically for low-power computing and communication applications such as netbook adapters, printer adapter and LCD monitor supplies, the TEA1733 is a Switch Mode Power Supply (SMPS) controller IC that enables standby power levels less than 100mW. The GreenChip TEA1733 is the first of a complete series of low-power AC/DC control ICs to be launched by NXP over the next year.
NXP will also be demonstrating its latest solid-state lighting (SSL) solution at CES 2010 – the SSL2101. This solution is the world’s first integrated dimmable mains LED driver. The SSL2101 can drive lighting systems with variable power requirements which include LED retro-fit lamps, LED modules, LED spots, down-lights and LED strings for retail displays. The dimming capabilities offered by the SSL2101 create unique opportunities for lighting system designers to produce more energy efficient systems. With the high integration level, this cost effective device reduces the total electronic components and allows designers to fully reap the benefits of dimmable LEDs while minimizing precious board space.
