Mouser Electronics has teamed up with NXP Semiconductors to launch the Dual PCB Configurable Logic Design Contest. The contest, already underway, is part of this year’s entry for the 2015 Big I.D.E.A. (International Design Engineering Award), and was officially launched worldwide last month.

The competition focuses on NXP’s recent unveiling of the company’s new line of multi-gate, multifunction, dual PCB configurable logic devices with Schmitt-trigger inputs, and will also feature products from other NXP Business Units, including Smart Analogue, Load Switches, Protection and Filtering, Small Signal MOSFETs, Small Signal Diodes, and other devices on the same evaluation board.

The contest entails engineers navigating from the sign-up process, through Mouser’s free MultiSIM BLUE on-line schematic tool, to working with a demo board in the final submission. Contestants can win several prizes throughout the contest by submitting the survey and their schematics ahead of time.

The prizes for the Dual PCB Configurable Logic Contest are awarded at the conclusion of every stage of the challenge – the entry phase (starting January 1), submission phase (starting March 1) and the completion phase. This way, more engineers can earn awards regardless of how far they go in the competition.

When it comes to design flexibility, more developers are relying on combination logic devices like those offered through NXP, so the design contest is a way to showcase the new dual PCB configurable logic devices which combine two or more different functions in a single package. This flexibility allows developers to configure the devices separately, having that glue logic readily available to create innovative design solutions efficiently and economically.

Partnering these devices, along with MultiSIM BLUE and the many other business units and products offered by NXP as part of the contest, opens a great opportunity for the design community to really explore the many solutions available by both NXP and Mouser Electronics.

The Grand Prize, First, Second, Third, and Honourable Mention will be awarded for the most creative designs using all the NXP products together in one application solution. Available prizes and merchandise awards for the contest total more than $12,000. The contest concludes on June 30, 2015.
