Molex Incorporated and Bridgelux were presented the Most Innovative Product of the Year Award for the Helieon™ Sustainable Light Module at this year’s LIGHTFAIR International in Las Vegas. This is the highest award bestowed by the judges and recognises the best new product out of nearly 200 submissions. The Helieon Sustainable Light Module also won in the category of “specialty lamps”, one of the 14 product categories evaluated by an independent panel of renowned lighting professionals.

“We are incredibly honoured to receive the highest award from our peers in the lighting industry,” said Mike Picini, vice president of solid-state lighting, Molex. “It demonstrates that Molex is a legitimate force in the solid-state lighting arena and that we can successfully apply our core expertise to develop products like Helieon, which is transforming the lighting industry.”

Helieon is an LED light source that turns and locks into place, emulating traditional lighting sockets and allowing users to alter beam angle, colour temperature or light output without removing or replacing the luminaire. It combines industry-leading solid-state lighting technology from Bridgelux with innovative, easy-to-use interconnect technology from Molex.

“Bridgelux is delivering energy-efficient LED lighting solutions that are driving the transformation of the $100 billion lighting industry,” said Bill Watkins, Bridgelux CEO. “Providing high quality light and an easy, familiar installation experience at a price point to enable mass adoption, Helieon delivers on the promise of solid state lighting.”

With meticulous attention to performance, design, ease of use and aesthetics, the award winning Helieon Sustainable Light Module is changing the way LED lighting solutions are used. Emulating the familiar bulb and socket, the Helieon light source and socket system delivers effortless installation, interchangeability and upgradeability, allowing manufacturers to deliver a variety of lighting effects from a single luminaire design and take advantage of future LED technology improvements, pre or post installation. Lighting environments can now be easily changed or adapted by switching beam angles, colour temperatures or light output at the module level, without any change to the luminaire, just like changing a light bulb.
