Livingston, in collaboration with leading equipment manufacturers Rohde & Schwarz and Kaelus, will host a new series of seminars examining the challenges currently being faced by the mobile communications industry.

The three seminars, which will take place in Coventry, Rome and Milan, are aimed at the engineers and engineering managers involved in the migration of mobile networks to 4G technology or optimisation of 3G networks. Representatives from both Kaelus and Rohde & Schwarz will give in-depth presentations on key topics relating to deployment of next generation mobile network infrastructure. There will also be demonstrations of these companies’ latest models.

Attendees will be informed of the various factors that are starting to impinge on the performance of modern base stations, resulting in increased noise floors, lower performance and reduced data throughput rates. The presenters will then be able to pass on their extensive technical knowledge and experience of how to deal with such issues and thereby maximise the effectiveness of network operations.

“With exacting demands currently being placed on the data capacity of mobile networks, it is vital to ensure that base stations are operating at maximum efficiency levels,” states Philippe Suel, Marketing Director of Livingston. “Through investing in technology-led seminars such as these, Livingston, Kaelus and Rohde & Schwarz are all showing a very strong commitment to supporting the telecom engineering community in what are difficult times.”

The seminars will take place on the following dates at the following locations:

7th February - Best Western Plus Windmill Village, Birmingham Road, Coventry, CV5 9AL

8th February - Rohde & Schwarz Italia,Via Tiburtina 1095, 00156 Rome

9th February - AS Hotel Cambiago, Viale delle Industrie 20040, Milan.

The agenda for these seminars is as follows:

ntroduction - Mike McHale, International Sales Director, Livingston (UK Seminar)

Luc Vandessel, South Europe, Livingston (Italy Seminar)

PIM Passive Inter-Modulation (PIM): An Interference Challenge for Radio Access Networks - Eduardo Aires, Sales Director, Kaelus

Covering PIM fundamentals, problems, solutions and testing techniques used to improve the radio access network performance.

Cable & Antenna Analysis - Matthias Roski, Applications Engineer, Rohde & Schwarz

Looking at the measurement requirements for the installation of antenna systems, including distance to-fault measurement on cables, one-port cable loss measurements and measurement of antenna matching on the BTS.
