Maxim to Present Its Line of Security Products and Reference Designs at CARTES & IDentification 2011
Maxim Integrated Products announces that it will exhibit its security devices and reference designs at CARTES & IDentification 2011, one of the largest events that showcases new products in digital security, smart technologies, mobility, and payment applications. At the show, Maxim will be demonstrating several of its products for point-of-sale (POS) terminals, secure authentication and transactions, and near-field communications (NFC).
DuriMaxim will also showcase its NFC smart tag technology, used in its 13.56MHz contactless RFID keys and cards. These products are designed for the 2-billion-units-per-year automatic identification, access control, and electronic cash (e-cash) markets. In the first demo, through the use of an NFC-enabled phone, a user can interrogate an embedded HF tag in an advertisement or poster to read a URL from the tag’s on-chip memory. The phone’s web browser will then automatically launch the URL’s specified web address. The second demo will use an application on the NFC-enabled phone that can request and perform a SHA-1 calculation on the smart tag for secure authentication.
Additionally, Maxim will demonstrate features of its security managers, including active tamper monitoring, secure key storage, and instantaneous erasure capabilities that help meet PCI PTS requirements. These products operate with any system processor and make adding security to existing systems simple.
Furthermore, Maxim plans to present its encrypted magnetic-card-reader solution that comprises the MAXQ1740, the industry’s only secure microcontroller for magnetic card reading. This unique solution provides end-to-end encryption and active tamper detection at the magnetic head level to meet new PCI PTS requirements and simplify mechanical integration. Security products for IP protection in embedded systems will also be demonstrated, as well as devices that are specifically designed to thwart clones and counterfeits for consumables like battery packs, medical sensors, and print media.
CARTES & IDentification 2011 will take place at the Paris Nord Villepinte exhibition center in France on November 15-17. Come visit Maxim and take a look at the demos in Booth 3C069.
