Agilent Technologies' Arbitrary Waveform Generator Receives Frost & Sullivan Award

Agilent Technologies Inc. has announced that its M8190A arbitrary waveform generator received the Frost & Sullivan Global Arbitrary Waveform Generators Enabling Technology Award. The M8190 AWG was singled out because it simultaneously provides high bandwidth and high resolution to allow engineers to perform realistic testing that is as close as possible to real-world conditions.

Before the M8190A came into the market, end users had to sacrifice bandwidth for higher resolution or vice versa, said Fernando Nara, Frost & Sullivan research associate. Agilent's M8190A arbitrary waveform generator is the first of its kind to introduce wide bandwidth and high resolution simultaneously.

Frost & Sullivan believes that Agilent's M8190A will hold a dominant position over its main competitors for the next two years before a similar product is introduced into the market, said Mariano Kimbara, Frost & Sullivan research analyst.

We are honored to receive this recognition from Frost & Sullivan, said Juergen Beck, general manager of Agilent's Digital Photonics Test business. The award confirms that we are delivering technology that helps our customers make reliable, repeatable measurements, even with emerging technologies like 60-GHz wireless communication.

The award was presented to Agilent in San Jose, Calif., on Sept. 12.
