RF and microwave component specialist Link Microtek has appointed Darren Brito to the newly created position of business development manager for the company’s engineering division, which designs and manufactures a wide range of waveguide products at its premises in Basingstoke. In this new role, his primary task will be to establish a network of overseas representatives with a view to increasing the division’s international sales. In addition, he will be responsible for a number of key accounts in the UK.
Brito has 21 years’ experience in engineering and sales within the radio communications sector, largely dealing with HF, VHF, UHF and satellite communications systems. Previous employers have included Motorola, Yaesu, Kenwood and, most recently, Barrett Communications.
Having worked in more than 75 countries around the world, he has extensive knowledge of differing cultures, customs and business etiquette and is ideally placed to spearhead this important phase of the engineering division’s development.
Commenting on the appointment, Link Microtek’s managing director Steve Cranstone said: “Our engineering division has enjoyed a great deal of success in the UK, but we see huge potential for our waveguide products in overseas markets as well. Darren will have a vital role to play in exploiting that potential.”
