Laird Technologies announce that they will display a variety of active thermal management solutions at the SPIE Defence, Security and Sensing Exhibition. The event will be held at the Baltimore Convention Centre in Baltimore, Maryland, April 29 – May 3, 2013. Laird will exhibit at booth #2037. Laird’s Engineered Thermal Solutions division will showcase the eTEC MA8000 Series Thermoelectric Coolers.
The MA family of thin-film thermoelectric devices is designed to provide low-profile thermal management solutions for medium to high heat flux applications in markets including photonics, electronics, test and measurement and aerospace. Laird will also display solutions for focal plane sensors. Focal plane arrays are widely used by U.S. military and others for night vision goggles, ocular devices and weapon sights. Laird’s custom modules can dramatically reduce power consumption and weight and improve overall performance of these applications.

“The greater cooling capacity, lower heat flux density, and robust design of our MA series modules will open up new applications that require low-profile thermal management, said Dave Koester, Vice President of Engineering for Laird.

Laser diodes are often used in the defence and security markets for target painting and require cooling and temperature stabilization. Laird will also display thermoelectric coolers for laser diodes at this year’s event. Laird’s eTEC HV series offer a smaller form-factor and increased heat pumping capacity than traditional products and focus on providing appropriate cooling only when and where it is needed within the system.

SPIE Defence, Security and Sensing Exhibition is one of the largest exhibitions for optics, lasers, sensors, image processing, spectroscopy, infrared systems, optoelectronic components and more for defence and security applications. The free event brings together over 500 exhibitors displaying the latest technology and innovations in the industry along with opportunities for attendees with workshops and product tutorials.
