Focusing on telehealth and e-health products, Laird Technologies showcased its entire product line of wireless modules, highlighting its Bluetooth® wireless module line. Laird Technologies, a member of the Continua Alliance since August 2009, conducted a live demonstration featuring its Continua-enabled Bluetooth module. This module contains both the Bluetooth Health Device Profile and the IEEE11703-20601 stack, allowing medical device manufacturers the ability to develop Continua-compliant healthcare products with minimal effort. The module extends Laird Technologies’ current range of Bluetooth products.

Laird Technologies also previewed its Access Point Gateway system. The Access Point Gateway system is a flexible platform that can incorporate various short-range wireless standards such as Bluetooth, Proprietary, or ZigBee®; and long-range communication solutions such as WLAN, Ethernet, or cellular communication. The gateway can be customized to accommodate market and customer requirements.

ATA 2010 is the largest international tradeshow of its kind, centered exclusively on the latest developments in telemedicine. It provided access to the most recent industry information on telehealth, e-health, mobile applications, and advanced remote medical technology.

One of the main focuses for the tradeshow was on the evidence and outcomes for telemedicine and telehealth. Featuring around 350 peer-reviewed presentations, ATA 2010 encompassed the entire field of telemedicine-related subject areas and specialties. Presentations included specialty panel discussions, poster presentations, pre-meeting courses, and general plenaries. Special Executive Roundtables, featuring top executives in the industry discussing the future of telemedicine from a corporate perspective, were also included in the tradeshow events.

“Laird Technologies was very excited to exhibit its entire wireless module line at ATA 2010 for the first time,” said Jim Ciccarelli, Laird Technologies Senior Product Manager, Telematics & Wireless M2M. “There will continue to be strong growth in the telehealth and e-medical markets, and Laird Technologies believes it has positioned its products to best meet the needs of its OEM customers in this market space”.
