ITT Interconnect Solutions exhibit at eCarTec, Paris

ITT Interconnect Solutions announces its participation at eCarTec, Porte de Versailles, Paris, April 3 – 5. One of the world’s longest-established connector manufacturers, ITT’s Engineered for Life product portfolio has contributed to many advances in technology across multiple markets, from space travel to industry. Substantial R & D investment in developing electric vehicle charging solutions achieved an industry first in summer 2010, when ITT ICS launched its innovative high-efficiency, high-reliability electric vehicle charging connector, the J1772, achieving a UK certified 75A J1772 interconnect.
Based on HEP spring contact technology and capable of performing Level I and II charging from a low end of 15A/120V to a high end range of 75A/240V through the same interface, the J1772 is the electric vehicle industry’s first UL-rated J1772 Level II 75 amp four hour or less full charging solution. Charging options include 75A/240V, 30A/240V, 15A/240V and 15A/120V. The inlet connector includes finger-tip protection on the power and ground pin contacts and also features an enhanced cable management system using ITT’s VEAM CIR series backshells. By using cable with a greater degree of flexibility, ease-of-use is assured on retractable design charging units. The J1772 EV connector is now used by most EVSE players including AV, Schneider Electric, BYD, Clipper Creek and in several other charging station devices.

As eCarTec approaches, the company announces the launch of its 2nd Generation electric vehicle interconnects. Alessandro Durigon, European Electric Vehicle Sales Manager for ITT Interconnect Solutions said: “We are excited to be exhibiting at eCarTec for the first time this year and to have this excellent opportunity for showcasing our state of the art capabilities in the EV, PHEV and EVSE charging market. Our new Generation 2 J1772 electric vehicle charging connector complies with SAE® standard J1772_201001 (current revision) and uses AC Level 1 and Level 2 charge levels for use with Electric Vehicle Service Equipment (EVSE) and Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles. IEC and GB charging interfaces will be launched in the coming weeks.”
