Innovative Technologies from STMicroelectronics Foster Well-Being and Progress of Societies
STMicroelectronics announced that Francois Guibert, Executive Vice President and President of ST’s Greater China and South Asia Region, will speak at the COMPUTEX Taipei - Innovation Forum 2011 about the Company’s industry-leading semiconductor technologies that serve as the foundation for the development of next-generation electronics and will help make the world a better place.
Over the past 50 years, Electronics has become the most important driving force and key enabler of economic and social progress, pervading nearly every aspect of human life. Titled “Electronic & Semiconductor Innovations – Answering Society’s Calls”, Guibert’s COMPUTEX keynote outlines ST’s arsenal of solutions that address some of the key challenges and opportunities the world is facing today, including energy saving and efficiency, the need for more effective healthcare, security and data protection, and multimedia convergence.
ST’s portfolio of “green electronics,” which aims at reducing and optimizing energy consumption in homes, offices, factories, and cars, includes world-class semiconductor solutions for energy harvesting, smart-grid systems, electric vehicles and LED and other hi-efficiency lighting.
Addressing the global challenge of an aging population, lifestyle-related illnesses and globalization-induced epidemic risks, ST propels the emerging healthcare electronics market with innovative applications for remote patient monitoring, lab-on-chip diagnostics, and on-body drug-delivery devices.
In an increasingly connected world, ST technologies encompass all aspects of security and data protection, including remote control and monitoring, digital content protection, contactless tickets and e-ID applications, secured wireless and machine-to-machine communication, and trusted computing.
ST is also a leading provider of multimedia convergence solutions that enable the delivery and consumption of any content on any device anywhere and anytime, ensuring the best consumer experience with intuitive and rich user interfaces and robust, high-speed Internet connectivity.
Guibert will also speak about ST’s offering in MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems), a disruptive technology that has changed the way people interact with electronic devices. The leading supplier of MEMS for consumer and portable application , ST has recently started integrating multiple sensors – accelerometers, gyroscopes, magnetometers and pressure sensors - in one package, leading to giant leaps in functionality and performance in a wide variety of applications in the consumer, healthcare, industrial and automotive segments.
