The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) has announced the launch of Electrical Standards Plus, a digital suite of publications for all users of the IET Wiring Regulations and expert IET guidance.

Although traditional print versions of the IET’s publications will still be available, the IET is encouraging all electrical professionals to take advantage of Electrical Standards Plus in order to gain a host of benefits.

Electrical Standards Plus gives electrical professionals the peace of mind that their copy of key IET publications like the IET Wiring Regulations is always up to date, with any updates or new editions becoming promptly available through the platform.

In addition, Electrical Standards Plus runs on a subscription model, with one, three or five year subscriptions available to three different tailor-made packages. As a result many industry professionals will be able to spread the cost of purchasing the IET Wiring Regulations and all of the guidance publications that accompany it, particularly with an annual fee starting from less than the printed version of BS 7671 alone.

Other benefits incorporated into the platform include intuitive search functionality for people looking to find the relevant information quickly; this also includes a function which allows people to see what has changed in the updated version of the latest IET Wiring Regulations. In addition, Electrical Standards Plus allows users to create PDFs of key sections of their publications and print them for quick and easy reference. Publications can also be viewed offline, giving electrical professionals the opportunity to consult whole books in areas of poor connectivity.

As well as being available to access from standard PCs, Electrical Standards Plus also provides access to the up-to-date IET wiring publications via tablet devices.

Geoff Cronshaw, Chief Electrical Engineer, IET, said: “Electrical Standards Plus is the only place to get digital versions of BS 7671 and the whole suite of accompanying IET guidance books. Furthermore, anyone purchasing a subscription to the platform will be given the peace of mind that they are using a genuine version of an IET publication.

“Many electrical professionals are very mobile, many moving between a number of jobs and projects on a daily basis. The Electrical Standards Plus platform supports this greatly, giving electrical professionals the ability to find the information they need at the click of a button without the need to carry or consult heavy and detailed books. Bronze, Silver and Gold subscriptions allow electrical professionals to spread the cost of these essential publications, and access a tailor-made package of content which is relevant to their requirements.”

Electrical Standards Plus is available at a discounted rate to existing IET members who will receive their standard 35% discount on an individual subscription to the Bronze or Silver packages.
