Green Hills Software Expands Platform for Industrial Safety
New Partner Integrations Add to Industry's Most Comprehensive Safety Platform for Industrial Devices - Green Hills Software, the largest independent vendor of embedded software solutions, has partnered with KW Software, an internationally leading provider of solutions and technologies in the field of industrial control and safety technology, and Molex, a provider of complete interconnect solutions, to add new software integrations to its Platform for Industrial Safety. The Platform includes a complete set of development tools, a wide variety of middleware, industrial communications protocols, and services built around the IEC 61508 SIL 3-certified Green Hills INTEGRITY® real-time operating system (RTOS). These new partner integrations further expand the comprehensive set of pre-integrated software that enables the fastest time-to-market for developers of industrial automation, control, and safety systems.
KW SThe Molex Brad® PROFINET IO and EtherNet/IP™ software stacks have also been integrated and validated with the INTEGRITY RTOS. PROFINET is an Ethernet-based networking solution for industrial automation that provides automation services comparable to PROFIBUS (Process Field Bus), a standard for field bus communication in automation technology, to enable better networking plant-wide. The integration with the INTEGRITY RTOS enables customers to design PROFINET IO-Controller (master) devices such as PLC couplers, PC-based interface cards, and robot controllers.
The Molex Brad EtherNet/IP integration with INTEGRITY supports both Scanner and Adapter functionality for EtherNet/IP. When used in scanner mode, the stack allows EtherNet/IP master features to be implemented into controller devices including PLC modules, interface cards, IPC, and robot controllers. When adapter mode is used, the stack enables EtherNet/IP slave devices such as I/O modules, robots, instruments and regulators. Both of these integrations will be demonstrated on the Freescale P2020 microprocessor at the Freescale Technology Forum, June 20-23, 2011.
“We are pleased to see the continued adoption of our Platform for Industrial Safety by customers around the world,” commented Joe Fabbre, director of platform solutions at Green Hills Software. “These new partner integrations further extend the value of the platform by providing turnkey solutions for industrial Ethernet and open standard safety programming environments out of the box, reducing time-to-market for our end customers.”
