Huawei Debuts Industry's First Hitless Adjustment of ODUflex (G.HAO) Prototype
Huawei, a leader in providing next-generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, unveiled the industry's first Hitless Adjustment of ODUflex (G.HAO) prototype. This breakthrough in optical transport technology will allow operators to dramatically improve the management of their bandwidth resources by using only the level of bandwidth necessary for services such as video, storage, and data.
TradHitless Adjustment of ODUflex technology is a breakthrough for OTN network IP service and will be a milestone in OTN evolution, said Christian Chua, president of Transport Network Product Line, Huawei. As a major promoter of ODUflex standardization and advancement, Huawei is proud to pioneer the world's first Hitless Adjustment of ODUflex prototype that addresses a critical need for operators today – better managed bandwidth resources.
With ODUflex, a low-demand service no longer wastes excess bandwidth or occupies an entire ODU, instead, ODUflex enables the efficient scaling of bandwidth to actual bandwidth demand, thus freeing up bandwidth resources and dramatically boosting transport efficiency. In addition, Huawei's Hitless Adjustment of ODUflex prototype achieves efficient ODUflex transport, enhances the synergy between the IP and optical layers, and further improves the flexibility of Huawei's SingleBackbone solution. IP service transport routing is also flexibly optimized through the new interface, reducing the cost of building a backbone network.
According to Ovum, as of July 2010, Huawei ranks No.1 in the optical network and WDM/OTN markets. As the industry's leading transport vendor, Huawei is committed to providing operators around the world with premium solutions across WDM/OTN, MSTP and Hybrid MSTP, microwave series and end-to-end transport.
