Heraeus establishes Heraeus Recycling Technology (Taicang) Co., Ltd. (HRTT)
W. C. Heraeus invested in a Chinese burning facility for strategic growth. Heraeus aspires towards strategic growth in the Far East. To further this goal W. C. Heraeus has invested in the Chinese burning facility Suzhou Sunhui Metalwork Co. Ltd. in September 2009.
“BThe new company is called Heraeus Recycling Technology (Taicang) Co., Ltd. (HRTT). The facility is situated in Taicang City, to the northwest of Shanghai. In April 2009 HRTT was awarded a Hazardous Waste License. This set the ball rolling towards the technical start up in November 2009. The existing infrastructure for incineration in the two year old facility will be complemented by state of the art sampling equipment, a pollution control system and an additional furnace.
“The expanded plant will offer some of the best facilities available in China for the incineration of precious metal-containing material and is also expandable to other recycling business”, says Dr. Horst Meyer, Head of Chemicals Division. The operation of HRTT will focus on incineration and thermal treatment of spent catalysts and will collaborate closely with the Chemicals Division of Heraeus Materials Technology Shanghai (HMTS). This cooperation now offers new and existing customers an attractive loop service: e.g. supply of high quality precious metal-containing compounds in addition to treatment of the residues – completing the whole precious metal circuit.
“Moreover, by supplying this service, our partnership with our global strategic partners will be strengthened even further”, adds Dr. Steffen Voss, Manager Business Unit Precious Metal Recycling.
