Green Hills Software Expands Platform for Secure Networking with Support for NextHop Advanced Control Plane Routing
Green Hills Software, Inc., the technology leader in device software optimization (DSO) and real-time operating systems (RTOS), and NextHop Technologies, Inc., the industry leader in layer 3 control plane software protocols, have announced the availability of Green Hills Software’s Platform for Secure Networking (PSN) support of NextHop Technologies’ GateD® advanced layer 3 IPv4 and IPv6 routing software.
BaseNextHop GateD is the only comprehensive collection of IP routing control plane protocols targeted at the carrier space. Complete support of IPv4/IPv6 unicast and multicast protocols are available. NextHop GateD protocols include BGP, ISIS, Fast OSPF, VRRP, MSDP, DVMRP and PIM. Equipment manufacturers can pick and choose from these individual components or license a variety of packages targeted at specific applications.
“NextHop is pleased to have our latest GateD advanced routing solutions available for the Green Hills Platform for Secure Networking,” said Al Maillet, vice president of worldwide sales, NextHop Technologies. “Giving our customers the ability to run our protocols on the industry’s most advanced separation kernel architecture, enables them to deliver reliable, secure, and cost-effective products to market quickly and efficiently.”
The INTEGRITY RTOS, with its separation kernel technology, is the foundation of the Platform for Secure Networking. It provides the foundation for the secure execution of applications and networking protocols required on network devices today and in the future. INTEGRITY provides network equipment developers the ability and freedom to architect their device with absolute security. It supports the requirements and security policies of Multiple Independent Levels of Security (MILS), which is the architecture for composing secure computing systems from high-assurance components. The key concepts of MILS include: protected execution of applications, system services and hardware control/access, brick wall partitioning, guaranteed resource allocation, information flow control between partitions, stack and application isolation, and containment of errors and attacks.
“Green Hills Software is seeing a large increase in demand for its Platform for Secure Networking for control-plane, virtual routing and virtual private networking systems,” said Dan Mender, director of business development, Green Hills Software. “Having this integration with an established industry leader like NextHop, enables our customers’ success in the demanding networking equipment market.”
