The Future of Transportation World Conference, which will be staged in Vienna this year, is a multiple-session conference bringing transportation experts from across the world together to discuss the future of transportation at a macro, societal and technological level.

Topics up for discussion in the conference’s diverse range of thought-provoking streams for 2019 include Mass Development of Autonomous Vehicles, Road Freight - Pathway to Efficiency, Mobility as a Service, Urban and Inter-Urban eVTOL Air Mobilty, and Connectivity - 5G, V2X and Cyber Security.

Delegates will hear from influential speakers representing leading start ups, law firms, OEMs and established players in Mobilty as a Service (MaaS), and this year’s event will also feature a special stream for road hauliers and other logistics-based operators.

In addition, there will be speakers invited from transportation authorities and city planners, technology and software giants, drone and personal air transportation companies and mass-transit solution providers, as well as a selection of business consultants and inventors of new and disruptive global mobility solutions.

Some of the speakers topping the bill for 2019 will be Malcom Glenn, Head of Global Policy, Accessibility and Underserved Communities at Uber; Takehiro Myoshi, Manager of Connected Vehicles and Mobility Services at Nissan Motor Corporation; Arne Eindhover, Head of e-mobility Innovation at e-on; Martin Beltrop, Head of Automotive at Nokia; and Stephan Herbst, Technical General Manager, Hydrogen at Toyota.

What unites these speakers, as well as the delegates who attend the conference, is the common goal of devising better answers to the increasingly demanding challenge of providing safe, efficient, sustainable transportation for the world in 2030 and beyond.

Tony Robinson, CEO of UKi Media & Events, said: “The Future of Transportation is a world-leading conference on the subject of ‘what next?’. Our primary theme this year is ‘Do or Die’. That may sound a bit extreme but we either tolerate change and disruption now or face a total crisis in 10 to 20 years’ time. Cities are already gridlocked; inter-urban motorways and autobahns have miles of queuing trucks and cars; air quality in many cities is already at crisis point.

"In some instances, the latter in particular, solutions are starting to be realised. However, the broader issues of gridlock and under capacity in transportation networks are a long way from being remedied. That’s what this conference is about.”

Delegates attending the Future of Transportation World Conference will be in Vienna during a particularly popular time of year, when the city attracts tourists eager to experience its wonderful Christmas markets. The main market occupies a spectacular location in front of City Hall - a UNESCO World Heritage Site. And once the conference is over, Vienna also offers great connections to many of Austria's best Alpine ski resorts.
