Fairchild Semiconductor Highlights LED Lighting and Medical Technology at Arrowfest
Fairchild Semiconductor will meet with engineers attending Arrow Electronics’ 22nd annual coast-to-coast technology exhibition to highlight innovative lighting and medical solutions.
The 2010 technology events will be held in Chicago, Ill., Chanhassen, Minn., Santa Clara, Calif., Toronto, Canada, Los Angeles, Calif., and Boston, Mass.
ThesThis year, Fairchild will focus on two key areas:
* Innovative LED lighting solutions that maximize performance while reducing board space, design complexity, and system cost. Fairchild’s extensive product portfolio ranges from discrete to integrated circuit solutions that contain PFC controllers, ballast control ICs, high-voltage gate drivers and MOSFETs..In addition, its range of LED lighting solutions benefit the environment and increase energy savings while meeting the most stringent regulations.
* An extensive product portfolio of analog and power functions for portable medical applications that contribute to user satisfaction and market success and include products for core power, USB, audio, interface, switching, logic multimedia, RF power, and lighting. Fairchild’s technology leadership in portable applications enables system designers to solve their challenges of miniaturization, convergence and longer battery life.
Arrowfest provides a forum for current and potential Arrow customers to learn about the latest innovations in technology and build valuable relationships with leading manufacturers and Arrow representatives. Industry professionals attending Arrowfest each year include: design engineers, original equipment manufacturers, contract manufacturers, purchasing/procurement representatives, and supply chain professionals.
Fairchild technologist Brian Kirkish will discuss the following topics at Arrow’s Technology Seminars in Cleveland and Dayton, Ohio for the engineering community:
* Basic principles of AC-DC switching converters in flyback topologies
* Variations of the flyback topologies such as quasi-resonant and resonant mode operation
* Primary side regulation, constant voltage or constant current, as well as techniques to drive LEDs
* Alternate topologies as well as some non-isolated topologies
* PFC controllers, combo controllers as well as single stage PFC-PWM controllers
* The fundamentals BCM (boundary conduction mode) and DCM (discontinuous conduction mode) for PFC as well as the potential drawbacks of each
* Other simpler methods for improving power factor
Arrow Technical Seminars are hosted by Arrow at various locations across North America. They feature well-rounded learning modules that provide solutions to complex engineering design challenges and in-depth technical presentations and demonstrations along with hands-on training designed specifically to reduce development time and enable a faster time-to-market experience.
