Express Logic Has Record Year As ThreadX® RTOS Deployments Soar To Over 500 Million
Express Logic, Inc. today announced that the total number of product deployments using its popular ThreadX® RTOS now total in excess of 500 million units. Led by HP’s use of ThreadX in their line of inkjet and All-In-One printers and Broadcom and Marvel’s use of ThreadX in wireless networking SoCs, ThreadX has consistently ranked among the most widely deployed operating systems for embedded devices. Thanks to its royalty-free licensing model, Express Logic's ThreadX has been used in millions of Bluetooth, WiFi, and baseband radio wireless networking SoCs that target devices such as smartphones, PDAs, modems, and other wireless communications equipment.
Clos“In the past year, we’ve more than doubled our revenue as ThreadX deployments were accompanied by increases in our networking and USB products as well,” commented William E. Lamie, president of Express Logic. “Our volume deployment is largely due to the explosive growth of Bluetooth and 802.11 wireless networking applications that use ThreadX for RF communications. Our actual count is much higher than the 500 million we’re announcing today, but we’re making a conservative estimate, since many of our customers do not make their volume shipment figures available.”
ThreadX has been used to power a wide variety of products, from entertaining consumer electronics to life-saving medical devices:

ThreadX is Express Logic’s small-footprint, fast, royalty-free RTOS for demanding real-time applications. Its royalty-free business model makes ThreadX extremely attractive for high-volume devices. Equally important is the ease-of-use that enables ThreadX-powered devices to get to market on time and within budget, leading to high levels of success in the marketplace and the resulting high volumes.
Lamie adds, “These deployment volumes illustrate the rock-solid reliability of ThreadX. Without bullet-proof high reliability, such production volume would never be economically achievable. We’re very proud that ThreadX has proven so reliable that many of our customers’ products have reached high-volume production success.”
