Elektron announces new Technology and R&D centre in Cambridge, UK

Elektron has unveiled plans to open a brand new Technology and R&D Centre for all brands within the Elektron PLC Group in the Broers Building at the University of Cambridge. All new product development activity and R&D functions will be carried out from this facility, which will also house Elektron PLC headquarters.
“The move to Cambridge marks an important stage in the evolution of Elektron PLC and is an exciting time for everyone involved,” comments Owen Kivlin, Group Head of Technology for Elektron PLC. “There are diverse, established brands within Elektron PLC, all of which have earned a reputation as innovative market leaders in their respective industries. Basing our core R&D function and New Product Development activity under one roof ensures Elektron PLC will continue to deliver this level of innovation and will bring about new synergies and benefits for the brands within the group as well as our customers.”

The Broers Building was made available by the University for organisations engaged in the field of commercial research and development and the new facility will house all R&D functions and New Product Development activity for all brands within the Elektron PLC Group: the Components brands Arcolectric, Bulgin and Sifam, the Instrumentation brands Agar Scientific, Digitron, Tinsley Ophthalmic, Tinsley Precision, Wallace, Sheen, ASL, Qados and Queensgate as well as Carnation Design and the Hard Metal brands, Total Carbide and Titman Tools.

Elektron PLC chose the University of Cambridge campus location to ensure it is well positioned to take full advantage of the area’s rich heritage as the UK’s technology core as well as the pool of engineering talent in the area.
