electronica China 2013 Final Report In One Word: Innovation

electronica China and productronica China were successfully concluded at Shanghai New International Expo Center on March 21, 2013. The exhibition space has grown from three halls in 2012 to four halls in 2013. With 46,000 square meters, the trade fairs broke the records, increasing by 31 percent. 737 exhibitors from 17 countries displayed their latest developments and product innovations and showed the future market trend of the electronics industry. The three-day trade fairs attracted more than 47,287 visitors, a 13 percent increase, from different application fields such as automotive, electric power, railway, medical, consumer or LED.
“Innovation abounded at electronica China 2013 and executives from every major industry that touches technology were here this week. This year electronica China, showcased the electronics future”, said Ryan Loh, Managing Director of MMI Shanghai.

Inspiring innovations at different segments

electronica China is covering the comprehensive segments of electronics industry, especially electronic components, systems and applications, and has established itself as the leading trade fair in China’s electronics industry.

Shaoling Fu, Tech-support Center & eSales Supervisor of Emerson, commented: “We have met hundreds of customers in one day and the visitors here are very professional. They showed great interest in our products. We feel very happy that electronica China offers us a good opportunity to introduce our products to customers. Many famous manufacturers from Asia and abroad brought their advanced products and technologies to the show, which is a good chance to communicate and learn from each other.”

Global companies attended electronica China 2013 to meet current and future customers. Industry leaders and visionaries from semiconductor segment such as Alpha and Omega, Bourns, Cicor, Freescale, International Rectifier, Linear, KEMET, Murata, Omron, Panasonic, ROHM, STMicroelectronics, TDK and Vicor presented their latest technologies and product solutions.

Qiang Ning, Field Application Engineer of Linear Technology Corporation Limited said: “At the semiconductor segment, we met many professional visitors from different industries. The deep communication provided us new prospective of products and technology, which also made more enterprises and manufacturers get to know our products. electronica China plays a good role in promoting our company.”

The connector segment was another highlight at electronica China 2013, which had more than 8,000 square meter gross space – a size no trade fair throughout Asia can exceed. The segment was mainly represented by European and American connector manufacturers such as FCI, Harting, Molex, ODU, PHOENIX CONTACT, TE Connectivity and Weidmuller. Some leading Japanese players from HRS, JAE and Misumi all assembled together to serve the fastgrowing Chinese engineering needs.

Tier one players such as BOSCH and Delphi showcased innovations relevant for the industry growth of leading car manufacturers in the automotive segment. Meanwhile, experts from tier two players including AVL, Atmel, dSpace, Fairchild, Freescale, Fujitsu, Horiba and SEMIKRON presented their latest research findings to engineers and shared their outlook into the future of automotive electronics.

Innovation forums shines spotlight

Twelve innovation forums featuring 126 speakers attracted thousands of attendees to exchange thoughts face to face on next-generation technologies at electronica China and productronica China 2013.

Eleven of them took place at electronica China covering automotive electronics and testing, Electric Vehicles, power, medical, LED, wireless, industrial, portable technology, embedded systems and connector.

Ph.D Junqiang Shen, Senior Engineering Manager of Delphi (China) Technical Center, shared his views on the forum: “International Automotive Electronics Innovation Forum covered a wide range of topics. Speakers from both tier one and tier two communicated with each other and shared different views on safety and electronics in automotive. Visitors can get the latest information in the automotive industry. Overall, it was very successful and impressive.”

Every year the International Power Electronics Innovation Forum is regarded as top-class technical event. At the International Power Electronics Innovation Forum technical experts and innovation leaders launched speeches on renewable energy and smart grid, new power, motor drive and power conversion.

Next electronica China and productronica China in Shanghai will be held on March 18-20, 2014.
