electronica 2008 – Just Two Days Until The Doors Open in Munich
electronica 2008 opens its doors on Tuesday 11th November giving the global electronics industry the opportunity to gather in one place and one time. It is, without question, the World’s biggest show dedicated to electronics technology.
elecOne highlight of electronica 2008 will be the ever popular executive round table discussion which provides a unique opportunity to hear top executives from leading global companies. This year’s topic is “The contribution of the semiconductor industry to climate protection”. Four prominent CEOs from the semiconductor industry – Peter Bauer from Infineon Technologies, Brian L. Halla from National Semiconductor, Carlo Bozotti from STMicroelectronics and Rich Beyer from Freescale Semiconductor – will describe the contribution made by their companies to climate protection. They will also discuss the trends in technologies and markets relating to energy efficiency.
The CEO Round Table will be chaired by William C. Ramsay, Deputy Director of the “International Energy Agency“ (IEA), Paris. In his capacity as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Energy, Resources and Food Policy, Mr. Ramsay was responsible during the 1990s for US policy on international trade, energy generation and industrial and agricultural products.
When it was last staged in 2006, electronica continued its trend to be more international. 60 % (2004: 58 %) of the exhibitors and 45% (2004: 44%) of the visitors came from outside Germany and represented 124 countries.
For electronica 2008, Klaus Dittrich, Managing Director of Munich Trade Fair International is expecting to see the high participation levels continue: “electronica is the world’s leading electronics trade fair. We’ve been successful in completely fulfilling the needs of the industry both with regard to technology and to globalization. At this year’s event, we are expecting 3000 exhibitors and around 78000 specialized visitors from all around the world.”
