Electrolube achieves global aerospace standard AS 9100
Electrolube has been awarded the AS 9100 internationally recognised Quality Management System standard, specific to the aerospace, aviation and defence industries. This standard is strongly supported and adhered to by major aerospace OEMs and is increasingly being required by customers and end users. AS 9100 is based on the ISO 9001:2008 quality management global standard that exemplifies quality and trust. It provides 80 additional requirements and 18 amplifications specific to aerospace business operations, which satisfy DOD, NASA and FAA quality requirements.
The AS 9100 standard recognises Electrolube’s excellent manufacturing and service capabilities that address the aerospace industry’s demands for safe, reliable products that meet and, wherever possible, exceed the requirements of customers and all regulatory authorities.
Electrolube is committed to excellence in every aspect of its business and provides its commercial and military aerospace customers with rigorously tested electronics protection products that deliver the highest level of reliability in the harshest of environments. Aerospace applications are expected to operate first-time, every time in some of the most varied and demanding environmental conditions known to man. The majority of aerospace electronics, will be exposed to significant amounts of vibration, often extreme variations in operating temperature (depending on whether the electronics are situated in cabin or non-heated areas), as well as the prospect of exposure to cleaning chemicals, de-icing fluids and more..
Commercial and military aerospace applications will typically have multi-decade program lifetimes and the hardware will usually be upgraded several times during its service life. The levels of required systems integration continue to increase, creating ever-increasing demands for greater packaging densities, reduced weight and increased reliability over a wider range of conditions, such as wider temperature ranges, increased thermal rates of change, greater ranges of vibration and longer storage in field conditions at the point of deployment.
Achieving the AS 9100 standard demonstrates Electrolube’s continued pledge to total customer satisfaction, to developing unique, high performance products that solve problems, reducing costs and implementing procedures that meet AS 9100 requirements. Electrolube is dedicated to providing revolutionary solutions for the industry from their state-of-the-art manufacturing sites in the UK, China and India. Headquartered in Leicestershire, UK, Electrolube has been widely recognised globally with accreditations from the Quality Management System - ISO 9001, the Environmental Management System - ISO 14001, the Occupational Health & Safety Management System - OHSAS 18001, the Automotive standard – IATF 16949, and now the Aviation, Space and Defence standard – AS 9100.
Ron Jakeman, Managing Director of Electrolube, commented: “Electrolube has served the aerospace market for decades with its established electro-chemicals expertise. Achieving the AS 9100 certification is an important milestone for us. It validates our own standards as company to provide the highest levels of quality and customer care possible, and assures our aerospace customers of the highest level of service in the development and delivery of reliable, high-performance electronics protection solutions. The certification strengthens our relationships with existing commercial and military aerospace customers and is an important part of our growth strategy.”
The Electrolube product range includes Conformal Coatings, Encapsulation Resins, Thermal Management materials, Cleaning and preparation chemicals, Thermal Management materials, Service and Maintenance products and Contact Lubricants that satisfy every requirement for the protection of aerospace electronics and associated controls. Many of Electrolube’s products meet strict Underwriters Laboratory standards for flame retardancy and many products meet European and American military specifications.
