Do Engineering with National Instruments UK & Ireland Technology for Academia Webcast Series
National Instruments UK & Ireland has launched an exciting new Technology for Academia webcast series about the latest NI tools and technologies that enable educators, researchers and students to ‘do engineering’. This four-part series will take place between 23rd and 27th May.
EachNational Instruments is committed to enhancing engineering and science education worldwide by providing flexible software and modular hardware that work with mainstream computer technologies to help integrate theoretical concepts with real-world applications. The impact of virtual instrumentation, and, in particular, National Instruments LabVIEW software, is most evident in academia, where educators, researchers and students around the world use NI tools to advance science, engineering education and research to impact the world around them.
The Technology for Academia webcast series is as follows:
Do Engineering: Enabling Technologies for Measurement & Control
Monday 23rd May - 2pm & Tuesday 24th May – 10am
Join David Baker, NI UK & Ireland Academic Program Manager, as he demonstrates the latest tools and technologies that enable educators, researchers and students to 'do engineering'. See how programs, such as those run by Dr. Dermot Brabazon at Dublin City University, are improving the learning experience and inspiring the next generation of innovators through a proven hands-on, project-based approach to education.
Do Research: Accessible Tools for Instrumentation, Data Acquisition, Signal Processing and Communications
Tuesday 24th May – 2pm & Wednesday 25th May – 10am
NI tools are used in challenging research projects including the Large Hadron Collider at CERN and in medical devices at Leeds University. This webcast will discuss NI hardware and software tools designed specifically for research, highlighting successful applications where systems have been created in less time, and how to access these tools.
Do Education: Teach Electronics and More with NI ELVIS and Circuit Design Suite
Wednesday 25th May – 2pm & Thursday 26th May – 10am
Learn about NI ELVIS, the educational design and prototyping platform, and how it can be used to provide a dynamic learning environment for understanding a wide range of concepts, including circuits, controls, telecommunications, biomedical and green energy applications. Find out how Dr Danielle George from The University of Manchester is using NI ELVIS to revolutionise the curriculum in the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
Do Prototyping: Deploy Simulation Models to Real-Time Hardware
Thursday 26th May – 2pm & Friday 27th May – 10am
Learn about practical applications of model-based design for rapid prototyping and deploying algorithms to real-time hardware. See how intuitive LabVIEW graphical programming and the out-of-the-box functionality of NI VeriStand allow applications to run more efficiently.
