Dialight’s Newly-Launched All-LED High Intensity L-856 Strobe Earns a Pick Hit Award from Radio Magazine at NAB
Dialight, announces that its Vigilant™ Series All-LED L-856 High Intensity Strobe has been recognized by Radio magazine, the Radio Technology Leader published by NewBay Media, with a Pick Hit Award during the 2011 NAB Show. The Radio magazine Pick Hits panel selects the top 15 new products introduced at the convention. The 2011 distinction marks the fourth time a Dialight product has earned the coveted award.
The Designed for obstruction lighting on communication and broadcast towers, smoke stacks and other obstructions over 500 feet, the Vigilant Series L-856 delivers reliable, maintenance free performance for at least five full years—more than double the standard life of conventional Xenon systems. This continuous, worry-free operation eliminates the costly and hazardous annual tower climbs required for frequent change out of Xenon tubes.
In addition to long life and maintenance savings, the new Vigilant Series L-856 High-Intensity Strobe is also offers an energy efficiency advantage over conventional technology, operating at just 250W in day mode (270,000 candela), under 30W in twilight mode (20,000 candela) and under 10W in night mode (2,000 candela). The lower energy load reduces the level of EMI/RFI compared to Xenon systems to minimize communication signals interruption. The system features Dialight’s patented community-friendly optics design to minimize light ground scatter, with a number of other patents filed. The Vigilant Series L-856 High-Intensity Strobe system may be used in up to six levels for a maximum of 18 synchronized flash heads on a single structure.
The product was unveiled for the first time at the NAB event, and is the latest in Dialight’s first-to-market, leading-edge obstruction lighting technologies, with FAA certification pending. The company previously earned Pick Hit awards for its other innovative LED obstruction products in 2001, 2002 and 2007.
“This year’s recognition once again affirms Dialight’s position as the industry leader in LED obstruction lighting products designed to meet our broadcast customers’ unique needs for long life and efficient operation with minimal interference,” said Roy Burton, Dialight’s Group Chief Executive. “We’re very proud to have once again earned the confidence of the Radio magazine Pick Hit judges for our proven technology.”
The Pick Hit Awards were first presented at the NAB Convention in 1985, making them the oldest technology award at the convention. The Pick Hit Awards are selected by a panel of judges who are radio broadcast engineers from radio stations, radio networks and radio production facilities. The Radio magazine staff has no influence in the Pick Hit Awards decision, which ensures that there is no bias in the selections. The official Pick Hit rules require that the winning products must fit a recognized need in radio, are priced within reason, are available within the current calendar year and have never before been exhibited at the NAB Convention.
