Celcite Management Solutions a leading provider of network optimization tools for wireless networks, today announced an expansion of its activity in the rapidly-developing African markets, focused on the deployment of COPS - Celcite's flagship, multi-suite, multi-technology, vendor agnostic, network optimization solution. The company has signed agreements with local partners to provide solutions in the African region. Celcite presented its solution at North Africa com event in Cairo, Egypt (Oct 27th-Oct 28th) and is exhibiting at Africa com event in Cape Town, South Africa (Nov 11th-12th).
With an ever-increasing subscriber base and constant change of technology from 2G to 3G and then towards LTE and 4G, the network complexity is increasing. Any change on one layer of the network has a three-dimensional impact across all layers or the complete network in general. Increasing pressure on OPEX spending is leading to increased site count (across overlaid technologies) for an optimisation engineer. To effective manage and optimize a network on a daily basis, an engineer has to process and mentally correlate Gigabytes of disparate data collected from various network elements. In effect, an engineer spends up to 2 hours or more to resolve a problem. In effect most of the time is expended in maintaining and managing a network, rather than in effectively improving the network performance and getting to the next level. Ideally, there is a pressing need for a paradigm shift from person-centric to automation-centric network optimization and network maintenance. Using mathematical modeling, intelligent algorithms and/or computing power of IT, to deliver solutions and root cause analysis.

COPS has extensive data processing capabilities that enable over 8 million automatic daily optimization checks and triggers for a typical mobile network with 10,000 sites. It provides automatic prioritization of issues and analysis / solution for these issues by correlation of available data sources. Currently, engineers have to toggle between multiple tools and home-grown macros to come up with analysis / solution. By using COPS, savings of up to 70% of the time spent by optimization engineers for daily optimization tasks are possible.

The remote network management capabilities of the COPS solution offers a compelling business case for operators and managed service provides in the region. This allows users to manage, monitor and mitigate all network-related issues from a single platform, with just a few clicks. Its ground-breaking capabilities include compliance, audits, neighbor optimization, configuration changes, fault analysis and root cause analysis of network issues. The unified platform also provides suggestions for executable solutions, performance management view, customer trouble ticket resolution and parameter changes.

COPS is already helping 3G and GSM operators manage over 125,000 multi-vendor, multi-technology sectors with substantial improvements in efficiency (more than 70%) resulting in reduced OPEX spending as well as better network quality, commented Rahul Sharma - CEO and President of Celcite. Now the expansion into the African region increases the global reach of Celcite to provide solutions in a very highly competitive growing market with substantially lower ARPU

COPS (Customized Optimization and Self Performing Solutions) is a multi-vendor, multi-technology solution, capable of managing a diverse set of data sources through a single unified platform. It uses Automatic Intelligence Correlation (AICT) in the form of embedded engineering expertise to provide automatic root cause analysis and executable solutions. COPS has been developed to bring about a paradigm shift from 'person centric' to 'automation centric' network optimization and management techniques.
