Broadcom Announces Eleven New Connected Home Set-Top Box Solutions with Integrated NDS Security

Broadcom Corporation (Nasdaq: BRCM), a global leader in semiconductors for wired and wireless communications, today announced eleven new set-top box (STB) system-on-a-chip (SoC) solutions with integrated NDS VideoGuard Security Kernel that provide secure digital content delivery for next generation connected home devices. These new Broadcom® 40 nanometer (40nm) STB designs will be pre-integrated with improved security and content protection for the delivery of broadcast content and services from NDS, the leading provider of technology solutions for digital pay-TV, and featured at this week's International CES.


Highlights/Key Facts:

* The NDS VideoGuard Security Kernel is the latest in hardware security technology from NDS. Integrated into STB and DVR silicon, this security kernel incorporates advanced conditional access (CA) features such as Control Word Protection and ICAM (integrated conditional access module), and enables direct rights management (DRM) technologies for content sharing in home networks.
* Broadcom's eleven new 40nm high performance and energy-efficient STB SoC solutions, with NDS NSK 2.0 support, also feature advanced whole-home connectivity that includes DLNA®, MoCA® and Ethernet, coupled with full high definition (HD) 3DTV capabilities, and an OpenGL® ES 2.0 graphics processing unit (GPU) for an advanced 3D user interface.
* Broadcom's next generation 40nm connected home STB platforms include the BCM7344, BCM7346, BCM7354, BCM7356, BCM7230, BCM7231, BCM7418, BCM7421, BCM7422, BCM7424, BCM7425, all of which enable an enhanced and secure infotainment experience in the home.
