Thanks for 70 years of driving innovation

In the last 70 years, Brüel & Kjær systems have measured sound on the International Space Station and ensured all of NASA‘s Mars rovers survived the journey there. Our accelerometers have turned the Golden Gate Bridge into a giant harp and helped maintain hydroelectric generators around the world, while our world-leading microphones and hydrophones have investigated everything from submarines off Sweden to the pressure in Boeing’s wind tunnels.

And as Brüel & Kjær turns 70, we would like to say “Thank you” to all our customers.

Because it is thanks to their challenges that we are still at the top of our field in sound and vibration measurement technology, busily innovating for the future. As they challenge us to help them satisfy their own customers, they cause us to push the boundaries of our knowledge.

So when visionaries like Airbus ask for help measuring pressure on a plane’s wing, we develop the technology to do it alongside them. When mobile telephone manufacturers need to improve their production quality, we design whole systems that guarantee consistency. And when mine operators need to keep local stakeholders happy, we create solutions to provide them with the noise data.

According to Ford’s Technical Leader for Noise, Vibration and Harshness, Mark Clapper: “Brüel & Kjær’s innovative technology eliminates mistakes up front, reduces the need for prototyping, shortens the time to market and produces a product that not only delivers high-end interior quietness, but also provides vehicle sounds that are more engaging for the customer.”

As Mark says, what ultimately matters to everyone involved is how the science and technology we develop makes a difference to people’s lives. And whether you live next to a construction site or a major airport, take a ride in a London taxi or perhaps just need to make a phone call in high winds, you can feel the benefits that our systems provide.

Now we are working to bring human sensibilities into our customers’ development processes. We are perfecting simulation that lets people experience NVH parameters regardless of their education, sound quality metrics software that quantifies subjective listener experiences and developing 3D sound field recreation that responds to the angle of the listener’s head.

Our world-renowned experts enable us to solve these challenges, but what keeps us strongly positioned at the cutting edge of sound and vibration measurement is the fact that people like you keep asking us for more innovative solutions.
